Camp Reflections

17 Jul

I love summer camp!  It’s always such a refreshing time to get away and connect with Jesus and students.  I hate to be selfish but I really like to go to camp because I know that I can encounter Jesus personally there.  And I hope students do as well.  But I really felt like Jesus was among us and he was talking to my heart all week.  It was wonderful.  I will be posting pictures soon on the >>beyondsite>>.

I was greatly encouraged by saturday night as we gathered together as a group and shared what God was talking to us about, and prayed and encouraged each other.  Three camps ago we had a larger group but not nearly as much depth.  I think we were still in the get to know the youth pastor stage.  And that’s totally normal.  This year however there was great discussion about Jesus working through us, being humble and letting go of pride and distrust.  It was incredible.  Jesus is moving.  And I know that I personally need to stay connected to Jesus.

I really felt like Jesus was saying to me over and over again that he wants me to be a good Christian before anything else.  And as I stay connected to Jesus he will continue to build the church.  He will build the church.  People will follow me as I follow after Jesus.

My prayer leaving camp is that we can continue this positive momentum.  That we can all stay connected to Jesus and that we can pass on our faith to those who weren’t there at camp.  That we can lead them closer to Jesus.

So those are some camp reflections.  I had to get them written down so I wouldn’t forget.  There was a lot that God was doing so if  I’ve missed something then i will continue to reflect.  But I would love to have your prayers for our students and our ministry and for me as a leader and a christian.

Summer Camp is Coming to Town

10 Jul

Actually we are going out of town but you know what I’m saying.  We are leaving for camp tomorrow at Daroga State Park.  I am really excited for this coming time at camp.  It’s great for the students to connect with Jesus, but Camp is always a refreshing time for me to worship, fellowship and enjoy the Creation of Jesus.

I would ask that you all would take some time to pray for our trip this week.  Pray for safety, fun, relationships, and of course students to connect with Jesus, both from our church and from the churches that will be joining us.

Winter Camp 07 – recap

23 Feb

Well it’s been a couple of days, and I haven’t posted on Winter Camp yet.  Honestly, this was one of the best camps that I have ever been it.  I am incredibly grateful that Tim Wicks invited our ministry to be a part of this incredible Camp.

Jeffrey Portmann was the speaker, as always he came across as real and personable.  He has an incredible way of encouraging people.  Every time I’m around him, I leave refreshed and energized. He loves students too and he always encourages my students too.  He Rocks.

The Band was really great too.  Mike Brandow led worship, and they have a great sound and great chemistry.  So that was great.

This camp was also very relaxed.  Which was way cool. Too often camps feel like they are trying to do a million things at once, and craming tons and tons of activities into a small space of time.  This camp was very flexible and that left room for lots and lots of fun.  It was great.

And most importantly God worked in student’s lives.  I had the opportunity to talk and pray with a couple of students who have been struggling, and trying to do the right thing.  So I’m really glad that they made it to camp. God works when we don’t even realize it, and he has been tugging on hearts for some time.

All in all, this was a great camp. And I hope that we can get back to the Firs Chalet next year with this group. It was incredible.

Getting Ready for Camp

31 Jul

Camp, camp, camp, always fun and full of adventure. I’m praying that all the details come together because right now I don’t know how that’s going to happen.

I have been jerked around by this company that I’m ordering innertubes from. First they never told me that they couldn’t complete my order so when I called to check the status they said they never shipped it, so I had to change the order completely, and they said that they would rush to ship it that day. But somebody didn’t know what they were talking about because it never shipped, so I called today to verify that they would have the order shipped and they still haven’t shipped it. GRRRRRRRRRRR. So now I’m a week out from camp and need these innertubes like RIGHT NOW!!! I can’t believe the idiocy of some people. I do know this I won’t ever work with this company again. GRRRR!!!

I’m really hoping that this all comes together, otherwise the river float will just be in life jackets and everyone will be very sad.

But anyway, that’s the status right now, I’m really excited about camp though I think it’s going to be good times, I’m excited for the kids that are going, and for the chance to grow relationships with them. And I’m excited to just get away and be with Jesus for awhile. It’s going to be good times.

I’ll keep you posted on whether or not I ever get those innertubes.
