Came across this interesting article from ypulse. The article is written from a marketing perspective but some of the points can be applied to youth ministry as well. Particularly, the message needs to be simple. The other ida that made me think was make the item customizable. How do we do this with youth ministry? How can we equip students to make youth ministry their own? food for thought.
Explaining the Interwebs
15 NovSomedays I feel like Dilbert when I try to explain the internet to people.

Good times. I wish there were better names for things.
Brilliant
18 SepSo my last post mentions commoncraft.com
I had never heard of them before reading about them, but I checked them out and they are really cool.
This one is about using RSS to subscribe to feeds. What did I just say? Well watch the video and you can see for yourself. This is a great time saver, instead of going to TerryStorch.com to see if he has any cool church-tech stuff posted, I can wait for him to send it to me. Pretty cool.
Time Saving Football Advice
13 SepTim Sanders who wrote Love is the Killer App (check it out here). Has written a timely and time saving post on a great way to watch football on Sundays. Personally I don’t know how I would live a life outside of my house without TiVo. It’s one of those inventions that you don’t really realize you love until you have one, much like an iPod.
Sundays are one of the busiest days ever for me, with church in the morning, youth group in the evening, lunch at the in-laws house in between. It seems like a go-go-go day. And now with TiVo I have the option of recording the game and working on something else, or recording the game and napping with the rest of my family. TiVo truly is a great way to not be held by the networks demands for my attention. If I want to watch Heroes, but I have a meeting on a monday night, no worries, TiVo’s got my back.
I think there should be some kind of financial pay-back from my friends at TiVo for talking up their product, but I doubt that will ever come and I don’t expect payment from my friends. Well Except for John, but he’s got issues.

We love Wii
11 JulSo I know I made the right decision in my love for the Nintendo Wii. They just announced some ninja games and accessories at the e3 conference. Hope over to nintendo.com to check them out.
Thank you Google
27 JunSo I work between two different computers, so I do a lot of my writing on google docs. Well I just want to thank google for making the whole interface friendlier. It’s really great.
I wonder if they did this for the iPhone as Safari will be on the iPhone and there was no Safari support for google docs. If so brilliant timing.
Google Calendar
13 JunI love google!
this thursday we are having a ministry leaders meeting at our church I get to talk about the joys of google calendar.

iWant iPhone
9 JanSo yeah, I just got a new phone so every practial bone in my body says that this can’t happen, so yeah, it’s come to coveting. But we are praying for that.
But Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone today at MacWorld Expo. It’s pretty sweet. And it’s yet another indication that the ZUNE is completely irrelevant.
