Tonight I will be going to the Gym. I’m looking forward to this because quite frankly, I’m getting flabby. I’m still losing weight slowly but I need to get this back into my life. Ever since Judah has been born it’s been really difficult to get out of the house for my gym time. Brenda,Continue reading “Going to the Gym”

Jesus . . . what a guy
So last night I was writing my notes for >>beyond>> and I was just blown away again and again with Jesus. He’s pretty stinking rad. Last week he told us not to worry, and to keep our treasure in heaven, and now this week he’s telling us to be ready for his return. The onlyContinue reading “Jesus . . . what a guy”
Monday Morning Reflections
So this morning I have been working AND taking care of Judah while Kathy is sleeping because she had to work last night. This has been tough. But we made it. Mondays are always tough because Judah’s schedule is all messed up because of Sunday. But he’s sleeping right now. I have been trying toContinue reading “Monday Morning Reflections”
Summer Camp ’06 EPIC
So I just got back from our summer camp. What a great week. Our speaker was great, the band was great, the weather was hot but not dealy hot, I lost five pounds, a great way to boost up you diet, I have broken the 260 barrier, the kids bonded in ways that really surprisedContinue reading “Summer Camp ’06 EPIC”
Finally
I finally finished Soul Searching by Christian Smith. This was a very insightful book, if nothing else I woudl recomend that any youth pastor read the conclusion and the unscientific post script. This is a really valuable book to have in your library. It’s a long tough trod, but well worth the effort.
>>beyond>>
Our church is going through a massive overhaul, changing the name, moving, and all that. And our student ministry is going through the same process. We introduced our new name last night at our youth service. we were fomerly called thryve, now we are >>beyond>> student ministries. Our goal in this ministry is to goContinue reading “>>beyond>>”
Soul Searching
So I’ve been reading this book for a long time, it’s a slow reading researching book, about spirituality in the lives of American teenagers. And it looks at spirituality in many different faith context and how students look at their faith, and how it affects their lives. Today what I read disturbed me not justContinue reading “Soul Searching”
Communion
Last night at our youth service, we took communion. It was an incredible time of worship and reflection, and for the first time since I have been here I saw our students linger in the presence of God, students who never really take time to worship were singing, raising their hands. One Student even startedContinue reading “Communion”
Last night
Last night went really well. We recently combined our High School and Middle School groups into one supergroup, and we had the highest attendance since the merger. We still haven’t recovered all of our middle school students but we are working on it. It was really encouraging to see that we are still influencing theseContinue reading “Last night”
BBQ
Every sunday night this summer we have been having a hang out time after our youth service. We have done movie nights, Bon-Fires, we played Kickball, and so on and so forth. Last night we had a BBQ and just hung out at the church. My wife and I received a mini-grill as a weddingContinue reading “BBQ”
