I love summer camp! It’s always such a refreshing time to get away and connect with Jesus and students. I hate to be selfish but I really like to go to camp because I know that I can encounter Jesus personally there. And I hope students do as well. But I really felt like JesusContinue reading “Camp Reflections”

Passion of Paul
So I just started reading Philippians in my Devo’s. And everytime I read this book I am amazed by Paul’s passion, perseverance, and hope. In Chapter one he says, “for me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” And he says that he is willing to continue to live so that he canContinue reading “Passion of Paul”
Carrying Burdens
I just finished reading through Galatians. Man this is an incredible letter, that talks about the freedom that we have in Christ, and the ability to live redeemed lives that only comes through the Holy Spirit. Everytime I read this book I am reminded that it’s not about me being perfect, and it’s not aboutContinue reading “Carrying Burdens”
devastation
This weekend we faced another incredible, terrifying display of the power of Nature, and the effects that it has on people’s lives. An entire town in Kansas was destroyed by a tornado with up to 200mph winds. Entire houses ripped to shreds. My heart goes out to the families that have lost so much. AndContinue reading “devastation”
Preaching Today
So today I have to privilege of preaching for our congregation. I really love being allowed to teach and I feel very blessed to be in a place where I can do this. I always have a little nerves about the message (not the actual speaking in front of people) about how well it willContinue reading “Preaching Today”
Sex God – Review
So I just finished Sex God by Rob Bell. This is a very deep book. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading it. But Bell has a way of taking life and examining it from angles that I would never have thought of and saying that “This is really about that”Continue reading “Sex God – Review”
Wisdom from Rob Bell
In Sex God, Rob Bell talks about heart break and suffering and the cross, and I thought this passage might be insightful in the midst of the VA Tech tragedy Our tendency in the midst of suffering is to turn on God. To get angry and bitter and shake our fist at the sky andContinue reading “Wisdom from Rob Bell”
Tragic
The shooting at VA Tech today is a tragic reminder of how broken our world really is. There is so much pain, and so much anger, and so much sin. This horrific event is heart breaking and it is bringing up feelings that I haven’t experienced since April 20, 1999 – the Columbine shooting. AllContinue reading “Tragic”
Definitions
So yesterday in our staff meeting we based our staff devos off of the small group questions for the week. We were looking Matthew 8, the healing of the Leper. One of the questions was what did the leper receive from Jesus’ touch? This story is so powerful on many levels. But the fact thatContinue reading “Definitions”
Transparency
the new Wired came to my house yesterday. And the cover story is about businesses being transparent. Here are some reflections from Mark Batterson: “Smart companies are sharing secrets with rivals, blogging about products in their pipeline, even admitting their failures. The name of this new game is radical transparency and it’s sweeping boardrooms acrossContinue reading “Transparency”
